Federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan says he has appointed an Industrial Inquiry Fee to dig deeper into the underlying causes of B.C.’s port strike final summer season. 

The federal authorities says in an announcement the port strike was a single labour dispute that induced a significant “financial disruption” as longshore employees walked picket traces for slightly below two weeks final July. 

O’Regan says the fee shall be headed by veteran mediator Vince Prepared, who was tapped through the strike to mediate a deal between the Worldwide Longshore and Warehouse Union and the B.C. Maritime Employers Affiliation. 

The assertion says the federal government “believes in collective bargaining” as a method of delivering “certainty” to the nation’s provide chains.

The Labour Ministry says the inquiry’s purpose is to supply “stability,” and that Canada’s credibility and reliability as a global buying and selling accomplice is at stake when provide chains are disrupted.
