Hip damage sidelines Osorio for Canada’s Copa America qualifier this Saturday

A hip damage has prevented Toronto FC captain Jonathan Osorio from becoming a member of Canada for a key Copa America qualifying playoff match this Saturday towards Trinidad and Tobago.

The veteran midfielder has been changed by FC Dallas midfielder Liam Fraser.

Osorio’s loss is a blow for interim head coach Mauro Biello. With 71 caps, the 31-year-old Osorio was probably the most senior participant — and the one one over 30 — on the Canada roster, in addition to a candidate to captain the aspect.

Citing the necessity for a “cultural reset” inside the nationwide staff, Biello summoned a younger 23-man roster that includes 10 gamers with fewer than 10 caps.

CF Montreal midfielder Samuel Piette is the senior man on the roster now, with 67 caps. Ahead Cyle Larin has 65.
