The Competitors Bureau has been granted an order by the Federal Courtroom of Canada requiring Rogers Communications Inc. to supply data associated to an investigation into the corporate’s Infinite wi-fi cellphone plans.
The bureau says it’s probing claims in Rogers’ advertising campaigns that the plans have limitless information, regardless of “allegedly vital reductions in information pace, often called throttling, after a subscriber reaches a sure information cap.”
The competitors regulator says it’s searching for to find out if Rogers’ advertising practices surrounding these plans adjust to the Competitors Act’s promoting provisions that bar false or deceptive claims to advertise a service.

Rogers spokeswoman Sarah Schmidt says the corporate’s promoting of its Infinite plans is truthful and clear.
She calls the introduction of those plans in 2019, which eradicated information overage fees, “a major and optimistic improvement for customers and competitors.”
Schmidt notes such limitless wi-fi plans are frequent throughout Canada and says Rogers finds the timing of the bureau’s investigation, in addition to its deal with Rogers, “fairly regarding.”
